Talib Kweli & Jean Grae - Where Ya Gonna Run

"Ten years deep and my tenure's still deep / my bad I don't like when phrases repeat"

One of the illest verses from any female MC. Shoutout to MC Lyte and the rest.

Anyways, here's a quick rundown of the top 10 picks of the NBA Draft and where I see them in 3 years..

1. LA Clippers - Blake Griffin
Critics are quick to point out that Griffin is a little undersized (lol) to be a full fledged PF, but anyone who's seen him play in college you would disagree. Blake is nothing short of an athletic BEAST who will outmuscle and outhustle anyone in the NBA.. think of an athletic Tyler Hansbrough with a little bit of an outside game. If Chuck could average a double double, Grif can do the same. A-

2. Memph Grizzlies - Hasheem Thabeet
Thin version of Mutombo. Should be an amazing shot blocker but I think he'll need to put on some muscle and develop some type of offensive game to be a good center. B-

3. OK City - James Harden
Solid pick. Will put up points in the NBA, but I think the Thunder would have preferred a true big man to complement Durant. Might regret not trading down. B

4. Sacramento Kings - Tyreke Evans
I'm a big fan of Evans. He will have no problem scoring in the NBA will his athleticism and skill set. If he can be efficient in the NBA and limit bad shots + turnovers he may well be the best player in the draft. A

5./6. Minnesota Timberwolves - Ricky Rubio/Jonny Flynn
Not much the T-wolves could do here given that their two main targets (Tyreke & Thabeet) where already gone. There are serious questions about Rubio's size and outside shooting and the T-wolves will probably end up dealing him sooner rather than later. I'm a big fan of Jonny Flynn--he's got the complete package as a PG. Overall, B+

7. Golden State Warriors - Stephen Curry
Great 3 pt shooting and passing. Plenty of hype. Solid pick I guess. B+

8. NY Knicks - Jordan Hill
All signs point to an athletic forward who can run the floor and put up some points--just what D'Antoni needs in his offense. A-

9. Toronto Raptors - DeMar DeRozan
Hustle and flow + athleticism. B+

10. Milwaukee Bucks - Brandon Jennings
Swag (lol). Jennings is carrying a chip on his shoulder for being picked after Rubio. I think he has all the makings of a solid pg if he can keep his head on straight. A-

Blu - Hold On John x Roy Halladay

"they say without pain I won't grow..."

Anyways.. Yankees pick up a big win vs the tigers.. Rivera picks up another save for all the haters
who said he is on his way out.. CC pitched his heart out, something the Yanks will need down the
stretch.

The real question has got to be whether the Yanks should go after Roy Halladay.. Off the top of my
head, the Yanks will need to part with top prospects Montero, Jackson, and probably a decent pitching
prospect..

At this point in time Jax profiles as a solid starting OF, but he still strikes out way too much for my liking
and there's a good chance he ends up being the next Mike Cameron without the Gold Gloves..

Montero has been mashing up A and AA ball and from what I understand has a tremendous work
ethic.. he has all the makings of an Albert Pujols-type hitter and personality-Bud Selig apparently
called Pujols a "great ambassador" for the game of baseball.. Cashman sound think real hard about
parting with Montero--I sure wouldn't. With Teixeira at 1b for at least the next 5 years, the Yanks may
have some problems finding a spot for him if catching doesn't work out.. DH is always an option, but
I'm not sure how I feel about developing a full time DH in the minors..

Apparently the Jays want a SP in return, most likely asking for Hughes or Joba if Montero isn't available.
Hughes has been absolutely lights out in the pen this year, showing some of the velocity he had when the
Yanks first drafted him. Joba has (as expected) struggled a little bit in the rotation.. The Yanks drafted him
with arm problems and I'm not sure how long his arm will hold up in the rotation.. If I had to pick one,
I'd prefer the Yanks part with Joba, but he is already a New York icon.. I also can't see the Yanks parting
with Hughes the way he has been pitching as of late..

In any case, I don't see the Yanks getting this deal done.. They would have to part with at least one
of Montero/Hughes/Joba, a tough pill to swallow.. Yanks are probably better off hoping that Wang gets
his act together...
